From beauty treatments to oncology. Electroporation is a technique used to open the pores of the cell membrane to introduce into the cells the active agents or medication. Like, for example, ampoules of Mila Opiz , various treatments to counteract skin aging, or as chemotherapy against bone metastases caused by skin cancer at an advanced stage. Now even in beauty salons the method is already in use with Face System, its application in cancer is a fairly recent version, but the data recently presented by the experts  of the Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute of Bologna seems promising.

HOW IT WORKS The mesotherapy without needle (electroporation) is a sudden electrical discharge, painless for the patient. The electrodes are introduced into the tissue and create electrical fields that open the pores in the cell’s membrane and thus allow an easier and enhanced input of the active agents directly into the cells. The Rizzoli team first tested the technique in the laboratory and then, starting in July 2009, also in the clinical phase of some patients with bone metastases,: "We became aware that in this way the effectiveness of cytotoxic chemotherapy is enhanced only in affected areas by the electric field”, said Milena Fini, coordinator of Rizzoli ‘specialized reference Center of preclinical technologies and innovative treatments  and head of the experiment.
